His Argument
A slice of poetry.
I wrote this poem today, in response to a class prompt at my University. We were asked to think of a political issue that we are passionate about and find a journal article related to it. The next step would include using the DADA cut up technique, and recycling the words to create a piece of poetry.
I decided to write on abortion, voice my angers - my distaste for the man’s desire to make choices for us. I came across an article on the famed Roe v. Wade case, which was written by a man, and chose to present his words in a poem. The author of the original work, Donald Regan, was a supporter to the right of abortion. Though, I found it almost funny how he spoke of what a woman goes through, as if he has gone through it himself. There was something frustrating about how a man could use his words to describe what a woman went through.
I don’t aim for my substack to be political, though it is clear that some issues still persist. That is certainly true for abortion rights.
Thank you for reading,
Georgina.

My favorite thing about University creative writing classes were the prompts! I like the topic you chose, it’s relevant and though political I do think that we are all political animals about something. Writing from a male perspective especially when you’re a woman on an issue that men are quick to speak on and slow to listen is a feet! I love the formatting!
